Player Spotlight: Cooper McWhorter

Standing at 6’5, Cooper McWhorter is a versatile combo guard who runs the floor at all times making his presence known. He’s coming off a strong junior season and summer where he picked up some offers and interest from schools across the local area. Entering his senior year, McWhorter is set to make even more noise with his squad at Centennial High School in Frisco, TX.

Offensively, his ability to shoot the lights out from any distance is something can cause nightmares for defenders. Funded by a quick-release, he excels at cashing out regardless of who is guarding him. Not only is Cooper a threat from distance, he will push downhill with a stronng handle on the rock and composure when pressure arises. McWhorter’s energy and hustle is outmatched and rewards him as he catches opponents offguard for easy buckets off the glass. Got to keep an eye on him. Another great aspect of his game is his court vision for dishing out dimes to his teammates.

Defensively, Cooper thrives at forcing turnovers and grabbing loose boards. He does a great job of utilizing his height to scare off opponents from attempting to shoot over him as well as rebounding in a crowded paint.

This past summer, McWhorter saw a breakout where he averaged 24 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists, crazy numbers for going against top competition in Texas. He competed with Union 17u in GASO events as well as the P32 New Balance Circuit with NIL Elite. His showcase of his talent and production earned him offers from Bethany and Lees-McRae plus interest from other D2 programs.

Keep an eye out on this dude!
