Braden Buckingham is set for a major season this year in 4A hoops in Oklahoma. The 6’1 guard is nothing short of electric and fueled by a competitive edge that is tough to beat. Coming off a developing and showcasing summer with Southern Assault, he’s got the tools to lead the Crossings Christian Knights to another state championship title. Trust me, he’s ready to avenge the title game from last year. When asked about his thoughts heading into the first practices of the season, Buckingham said “Our team is looking really good and we are excited to start working for this year.”

The previous season ended with a state championship title appearance where Buckingham was a leading scorer across all 8 teams at the Big House where he averaged 18 points a game. In the regular season he proved his ability to be a threat on both sides of the ball as he averaged 14.7 PPG, 4 RPG, 2.2 APG, and 1.1 SPG. Not to mention he shot an impressive 41.6% from beyond the arc, a true sharpshooter who does not fold under pressure. These were standout numbers especially playing with a D1 commit teammate. He truly has a feel for the game to find where he excels and attack his specialities.

Buckingham racked up quite a bit of awards and accolades during his junior campaign as well. He was named to the 4A All-State First Team, Jenks-Union Invitational All-Tournament Team, Tournament of Champions All-Tournament Team, and PNTV 4A Most Outstanding Player. To add even more he was recognized as a PNTV 4A Super Six Finalist for Player of the Year, and a 2nd Team All-GMAC selection.

This season Buckingham will easily be a name seen and heard a lot across the state of Oklahoma. His crafty arsenal and shifty drives make him a threat at all times with the rock in his hands. He is not an easy matchup for anyone due to his relentless attack on both sides of the ball. He runs the floor with electricity and a lightning-quick first step. He thrives in any environment and makes sure to keep the game in his control. All features that will be highly beneficial in taking his squad back to the Big House and earning himself a role on a roster at the next level.
