Sam Pitrof is quickly emerging as one of the most productive and intriguing players to watch in the state of Wisconsin this season. He does a very efficient job of merging the game styles of slashing, shooting, driving, and defending. He’s a proven scorer and winner with size, strength, and a gritty competitive edge. Pitrof thrives in tough situations and does not hesitate to set the tone for his guys.
Standing at a physical 6’4 height and 190 lb weight, Pitrof continues to dominate. He’s a lengthy but stout Combo Guard who plays both sides of the ball extremely well. He brings a pressuring 6’6 wingspan to the table as well that benefits him continously. As a junior, Pitrof already showed what he was capable of as he racked up numerous accolades and achievements. He earned honors of 1st Team All-State, 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-County, and the 1,000 Point Club. Pitrof had a solid summer season where he ran with Wisconsin PGC on the UAA circuit. He matched up against top competition that has already been put to good use as he is flourishing against local opponents up North.
Pitrof is currently averaging some impressive stat lines during his senior season for Racine Lutheran. He’s help lead the Crusaders to a 12-2 record with numerous big wins that have gained national attention via YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter (X). On the offensive side of the ball, Pitrof currently is putting up 27 points a game while also grabbing over 10 boards, dishing out 2.5 assists, and picking up 2 steals a game. He recently broke his school’s record for most points scored in a single game. He also just had a series of 30+ point games in a row.
His ability to score at any level at any time is scary to defend against. He is always on high alert with a head on a swivel, looking for the next opportunity to make a play and change the tide of the game. His hand-eye coordination is killer. He excels at finding the open lane and launching up for a thundering slam at the rim. His dunks are lethal. His handles are quick and swift. His athleticism is unreal. His hustle and grit are tough to compete against. Pitrof is legit.
Being a Combo Guard means putting up a threat on the defensive side of the ball, which he does just as well. His lengthy frame rewards him with a defensive prescence that’s seen every second of the game. His vision to disrupt passing lanes and prevent easy buckets is precise. He brings such intensity and intelligence to the floor. He’s not afraid to put his nose in the fight, regardless of who he’s up against.
Off the court, Pitrof shines as well as he is a well-rounded leader in the classroom. He has earned his positions in the National Honor Society, the High Honor Roll, and the honor of being the UW Credit Union Student-Athlete of the Week.
He’s got countless traits that will propel him at the next level. Coaches are already seeing that as he currently holds a Division I offer from Navy, and two Divsion II offers from Ferris State and West Virginia State. Pitrof also has several interests from other Division I mid-major programs and Division II programs.
Entering the last few months of his high school basketball career, Pitrof’s main goal is clear: win the state championship. He’s confident he and his guys are up for the challenge and will bring it home. The Crusaders have only 2 losses but they came from poor shooting nights, a rare occurrence for these guys. Pitrof is here to win. Keep an eye out for this dude.
