Super Prep Showcase Preview
The Super Prep Showcase has arrived and the event is stacked with talent. We’ll get a great look at who rises up the ranks today and who shines bright amongst everyone else. While there are over 80 athletes here today, I wanted to get a preview of who I think will be eye catchers from the start.
Joseph Baba - Edmond Santa Fe
Joseph, aka JoJo, is a tall but stout guard who showcases a variety of different skills when it comes to scoring and defending. Standing at 6’5, he’s already got an advantage over opponents on the matchup. He does a great job of utilizing this to drive to his spots and finish through contact. One of his most pure scoring moves is a quick slash to the charity stripe and knocking down a quick pull-up jumper. He has solid athleticism as well that allows him to grab boards and hammer it down at the rim.
Jamel Morris - Douglass
Jamel Morris is one of a kind. He brings a different level of energy to the floor every time he’s out there. He stands at 6’4 with a physical and lengthy frame that rewards him on both sides of the ball, especially when scoring. Grabbing rebounds and finishing back off the glass is one of his specialties. He’s got smart ball control and can manipulate a defender to get to the rim for a flashy finish. He makes sure to get to his spots and will knock down the shot when needed. He’s not afraid of the big stage and thrives in competitive environments.
Zuo Kpogba - Douglass
Zuo was an elite scorer for the Trojans. He’s got an electric first step that zips past defenders for easy buckets. He has a high motor that propels him to make a difference every second he’s out there. Zuo runs the floor and keeps the game in his control, making sure he and his guys get to the rim. He does a great job of handling the rock as he has a deep bag of shifty handles. He’s an excellent shooter as well and can hit from any distance.
Aidan Clark - Broken Arrow
Aidan is a physical beast who goes to work in the paint and outside the perimeter as well. Down low, he’s got quick feet that allow him to move past pressuring defense and score through contact. His long arms help him keep the ball above his head and snatch loose boards. He excels at rebounding on both sides of the ball. He’s also a great shooter from distance. He has a very fundamental shooting form that is a pure shot, rewarding for easy buckets.
Hayes White - Kingfisher
Hayes is a crafty guard who fears none. He’s got a strong 6’2 frame that can outwit and outwork anyone on the floor. Great floor general with sharp vision for making plays and finishing them whether he does it or his teammates, provided by him. He does a solid job of staying calm under pressure and facilitating the rock across the court. He’s got some crafty moves in his bag that propel him when driving in the paint for tough buckets. He’s able to get to his spots which range from any distance, and hit the open or contested shot.
Jack Sheriff - Edmond Memorial
The Sheriff. Jack is one of the most intriguing players to watch in this batch. Great kid on and off the floor. Excellent leader for his teammates. Stays vocal for his guys and gets them to where they need to be. He does not hesitate to step up when a challenge arises. Great 3-and-D player. He also is a sharpshooter from distance who can shoot over anyone. Watch out at the rim too, he’s not afraid to get up and slam it home.
CJ Dawkins - Edmond Santa Fe
Another tall combo guard in the batch, CJ has a great feel for the game and can run the game at any speed. He’s got a good eye for how and when to make a play, especially with the rock in his hands. He floats around waiting for the opportunity and will jump on it immediately. Has some crafty moves in his bag to get past defenders. A couple notable plays in the recent state tournament from CJ would involve a tough move to create separation then either a pull-up jumper or finish off the glass through contact.
Avery Lehman - Piedmont
Avery does a great job of doing the job asked of him and stepping up when needed. He excels at shooting the lights out from any distance. His 6'4 frame makes it hard to contest his shots or put a body against him on the perimeter, trying to prevent him from getting to his spots. Smart combo guard who goes down and works on defense. Sly hands to pick the pocket and get the steal. Analyzes the passing lanes well too.
Marcus Fleming - Del City
Marcus is a lengthy stretch and slasher. He’s got a 6’6 build that benefits him on both sides of the ball. He makes it tricky when matching up against him. His quick feet allow him to blow past forwards and finish at the rim. His long arms and tall shots allow him to shoot over anyone on the perimeter or any other spot of his choice. He gets in the fight for rebounds and blocks as well.
Clay Moses - Metro Christian
Clay does a very good job of showing that patience is a key skill to have on the floor. He analyzes and scans for the right time to make something happen. It could be floating around for the open three ball or the flash to the paint for a bump through contact. He’s crafty with it all. Smart decision maker who takes advantage of the mismatch with his strong 6’4 frame to score or force a turnover.
Zane Phillips - Norman North
Absolute sniper. Zane is exactly what you picture when you think of catch and shoot. He does in fact knock it down off the quick release with a hand in his face or not. He shot over 40% from deep on the season, punishing teams for letting him shoot. He’s also able to create distance from defenders or work past them. He has the tools there to separate himself as a solid shooter for the next level.
TJ McNeely - Putnam City North
TJ is a difficult dude to gameplan against. He can outwork you everywhere on the floor. He’s got a physical grit to him where he fears no one. He’s not afraid to stick his nose in the fight and attack the rim for finishes or rebounds. Does a great job creating opportunities and connecting when the time comes. Great vision for playmaking across the court, connecting with the open man.
Kade Shook - Roland
Kade is probably the favorite to watch in the 2027 class. As a junior, he’s already set the tone for what teams and coaches should expect from him this summer and next season. He led his Roland squad to the 3A state title game with an impressive showing all season long. He’s an elite scorer and defender, making it a nightmare to matchup against. He does it all too. Scores from distance, finishes in the paint, gets past defenders, grabs the loose board, dishes out dimes to his guys, picks the pocket for steals, and enforces some mean blocks.
Money Robinson - Edmond Santa Fe
Electric guard who gets active on both sides of the ball, especially flashing past defenders and forcing turnovers. Vocal player who is not afraid to let it be known how he’s feeling after a tough bucket. Doesn’t let his slim build hinder his capability of impacting the game. He’s got some lightning quick feet and his handles are just as fast. He’s a quick thinker who has great coordination on the floor. He always looks comfortable no matter the situation.
Trenton Morton - Newkirk
Trenton is a skilled guard who can not only handle the rock but score at every level as well. He averaged over 20 points a game for Newkirk this past season, only as a junior. His 6’2 frame is a perfect matchup for the perimeter and the inside on both sides of the ball. He’s able to squeeze in for boards and put them back up for bumps in the paint. Quick dribble moves allow him to create separation from defenders and knock down the contested shot attempt. Curious to see how he matches up against guys from 5A and 6A ball.
Damarion Jones - Midwest City
Small guard but brings high intensity, crafty moves, lightning quick feet, and strong grit to the floor. Stays patient with the ball, waiting for the right time to strike. Likes to take his opponent to the paint and create a circus level shot to finish through contact. He’s like a wizard when it comes to finding ways to impact the game.
Riley Sneller - Bishop McGuinness
Riley is a talented 6’2 guard with a physical frame that can not only shoot the lights out, but enforce pressuring defense and match up well against anybody. He’s a 3 point specialist from every spot, especially the corners. He has some crafty moves to reward him with tough buckets. He’s mastered the fundamentals and looks smooth out there when he’s playing his game. He chases boards down and clamps down on defense.
