2027 Standout Guards at the Bryan Live Period

The PRO16 Finals in Bryan brought the energy, competition, chaos, and many more emotions all weekend long. It was a great experience to witness so many people, fans, players, scouts, and coaches in one spot. Everyone was at the edge of their seat on every court. There were tons of games and I unfortunately could not attend all of them. Here are my standout guards from the 2027 class.

Jet Naegele | 6'1 | PG | BYC Elite | Trinity Christian (TX)

Jet Naegele is a top name to acknowledge and recognize because he has had a dominant summer season. He is easily the hardest working and most electric guards on the circuit and the state of Texas. He was a major piece in getting his team to the top of the NXT rankings at the end of May. He can guard anyone put up against him, even 5 star recruits. This dude fears nobody. His ability to zip across the court and pass defenders is unreal. He keeps the rock tight on his hip and pushes downhill with intensity. Once he gets past a defender it's really impossible to stop him from producing because he can finish off the glass, at the rim, or dish it out to his open teammates. On the other end of the floor, he uses his speed to chase down loose balls, grab steals, and even swat away shots off the glass in fast break situations. This is someone who you need to have on your radar as of yesterday. He earned an offer from the Citadel in Richmond and performed even more in front of several dozens of college coaches. Overall, a great kid who is respectful to everyone and a true competitor.

Rylen Sykes | 6'3 | CG | AAO Flight | Crossings Christian (OK)

Sykes put together one of the more efficient weekends in Bryan, averaging 14.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.0 steal per game while shooting an outstanding 63% from the field and 79% from three-point range. He's got the ability go at all levels and produce in several key ways. He can analyze any scheme put up in front of him and make quick decisions to create opportunities for his guys. He capped the live period with a statement performance against one of the event's top teams, finishing with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists, showcasing his ability to elevate his play against high-level competition. His performances earned him scholarship offers from Menlo College and Southwestern Oklahoma State during the event.

Bryce Garnett | 5'11 | PG/SG | Clarksville Crossovers | Kirkwood (TN)

Bryce Garnett is a name that is not talked about enough. This entire season he continuously put up over 20 points a game each event. In Richmond, he averaged 20 and in Bryan he averaged 19. He's not just a scorer though. He's an overall asset who contributes on both sides of the ball. He averaged 4.4 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.3 steals in Texas this past weekend. He impacts the game everywhere. High-level threat at all 94 feet. He's got great handles, sharp vision, and a clean jumper with a quick release for picking up buckets. He thrives with the ball in his hands, consistently making the right reads whether it's creating for himself or setting up teammates. Defensively, he applies constant pressure, disrupts passing lanes, and turns defense into offense with his activity and instincts.

Austin Johnson | 6'5 | G | Griffin Academy | Carl Albert (OK)

Austin Johnson was one of the more complete two-way guards on display throughout the live period, impacting the game in nearly every category. At 6'5, he combines excellent size, athleticism, and physicality to consistently create advantages on both ends of the floor. Johnson is an aggressive downhill scorer who embraces contact and finishes through defenders with strength. His explosiveness was evident with multiple highlight-reel dunks in transition. As a playmaker, Johnson consistently made the right reads, delivering timely passes and creating quality scoring opportunities for teammates. Defensively, Johnson's physical tools and relentless effort stood out. He generated steals by jumping passing lanes, pressured opposing ball handlers, and used his length to disrupt offensive rhythm.

Cash Erdmann | 6'3 | G | Griffin Academy | Keller (TX)

Cash Erdmann showcased a well-rounded offensive and defesnive game throughout the live period. He stands out as a skilled guard capable of impacting the game in multiple ways. At 6'3, he plays with confidence, poise, and a strong feel for the game. He consistently makes winning plays with the ball in his hands. Erdmann is a reliable perimeter shooter with deep range and a quick, repeatable release. He remained under control while attacking and consistently made the correct read, delivering accurate passes that led to quality scoring opportunities. Erdmann also contributed on the glass, rebounding well for a guard by tracking long rebounds and competing in traffic.

PJ Nowlin | 6'4 | G | Valid Kixx Elite | Canyon View (AZ)

PJ Nowlin consistently showcased an advanced scoring package throughout the live period. Nowlin is an expert at getting to his spots, playing with outstanding pace and body control to keep defenders off balance. He never appears rushed, instead waiting for the right moment to attack before creating separation for clean looks. When attacking the basket, Nowlin used his physical 6'4 frame to his advantage, absorbing contact and finishing through defenders with crafty touch around the rim. His ability to consistently find quality scoring opportunities and convert them gives him the tools to be a highly effective two-way backcourt contributor at the next level.

Drew Jackson | 6'0 | PG | 1Family | Episcopal (FL)

Drew Jackson has to be one of the shiftiest guards on the circuit and in the state of Florida. He's got an electric 6'0 frame that glides across the court anywhere he wants at any time. He puts the rock on a rope, stays controlled, handles adversity, and gets down the floor with ease. He never once looked tired out there. He's got some serious hustle, grit, and agility that benefits his game big time. He excels at creating space from defenders for quality shots.

Ayden Harvey | 6'4 | CG | Miles Select | Clear Brook (TX)

Ayden Harvey put together an impressive live period for Miles Select, consistently proving to be one of the team's most impactful two-way guards. At 6'4, Harvey possesses excellent size for the combo guard position. He uses his length, athleticism, and motor to influence the game in a variety of ways. Harvey thrives in transition, where his speed and body control allow him to create easy scoring opportunities. Harvey plays with a high basketball IQ and consistently makes the right read. He keeps the offense under control, moves the ball willingly, and creates quality looks for others without forcing the action. Defensively, Harvey separated himself with his intensity and versatility. He applies constant pressure on the perimeter, moves his feet well, and uses his length to contest shots.

Mar'Quell Robinson | 6'3 | G | YPG | Mustang (OK)

Mar'Quell went viral early this past weekend for his disgusting ankle breaker on his defender then the clean kick out to his teammate for the corner 3. While the highlight grabbed the headlines, Robinson's overall game was just as impressive. He consistently created separation off the dribble with an advanced handle, excellent change of pace, and the confidence to attack defenders in isolation. He's done that all summer long, even in team camps where he dropped a 40 point game for Mustang. With his combination of elite ball-handling, playmaking vision, scoring versatility, and flair, Robinson is a guard who can change the momentum of a game in an instant.

Hudson Struckel | 6'1 | PG | Team Oklahoma | Oklahoma Christian School (OK)

Hudson Struckel consistently set the tone early for Team Oklahoma, providing an offensive spark whenever his team needed it. He's never hesitant to let it fly when he gets an open look, and his confidence as a shooter often serves as the ignition for his team's offense. Once Struckel finds his rhythm, the energy spreads throughout the lineup. Struckel is comfortable knocking down shots from beyond the arc and the mid-range. He plays with a quick pace while remaining under control, doing an excellent job of dictating the tempo and keeping the game on his terms. His strong 6'1 frame allows him to absorb contact, compete physically, and attack without backing down from bigger defenders. He's a vocal presence on the floor who communicates constantly, encourages his teammates, and keeps everyone organized on both ends.
